Data retention policy

Draft. This text describes how Holaris works today and is pending legal review. Bracketed details will be completed before launch.
We keep personal data only as long as we need it to run Holaris, keep members safe and meet legal obligations. This page lists how long we keep each kind of data and what happens when you delete something.

Deleting things yourself
- A message: unsend it and it's erased for both of you. “Delete for me” only hides the conversation from you; once you've both deleted it, the messages are erased 30 days later.
- A post: delete any echo, reply or spark answer you wrote.
- Your profile details: edit or clear them in your profile and settings.
- Everything: delete your account.
What happens when you delete your account
- You're signed out on every device straight away, and your email is freed.
- Your profile, posts, reactions, saved items, notifications and connections are deleted, and pending letters are cancelled.
- Messages you sent are erased. The other person sees “Message removed”.
- Photos you uploaded are deleted from storage.
This usually finishes within minutes. Safety records stay, as listed above, and deleted data may remain in backups for up to 30 days.
Requests
To ask for a copy of your data, use Settings → Your data. For anything else, including deletion when you can't sign in, email [email protected]. We verify that the account is yours and reply [within 30 days — to be confirmed].
